“Know thyself” and “heal thyself” have long-served to entrench the notion that helpers need to help themselves. While introspection and self-care are important, it is also true that we are inherently interdependent beings. We all deserve to be cared for. You provide this care for others, so you know this to be true.
So why Thy? Thy is the pronoun for royalty—and you, as a caretaker for our community, deserve to be treated as such. “Thy Care” literally translates to “your care” and, well, it’s your turn.
